Donald Trump’s new conspiracy theory: Obama didn’t attend Harvard Law

The State Column | Thursday, April 28, 2011

President Obama may have released his long-form birth certificate, however, Donald Trump is already demanding Mr. Obama release another document: his student records.

Mr. Trump, a potential Republican presidential candidate, questioned whether the president has actually attended Harvard Law and Columbia University.

“I heard he was a terrible student, terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?” Mr. Trump said in an interview with The Associated Press. “I’m thinking about it, I’m certainly looking into it. Let him show his records.”

The New York Republican’s latest accusation comes as Mr. Obama announced Wednesday he has released a copy of his long-form birth certificate.

Mr. Trump responded in full force to the announcement, taking credit for pressuring Mr. Obama to act. “I’m very proud of myself because I accomplished something that nobody else was able to accomplish,” he said during a visit to New Hampshire, a presidential primary state.

Mr. Obama graduated from Columbia University in New York in 1983 after transferring from Occidental College in California. He then attended Harvard Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude 1991 after serving as the president of the Harvard Law Review.
