Gov. Chris Gregoire’s third term looking less likely

The State Column | Monday, April 04, 2011

A third term for Washington state governor Chris Gregoire is looking less likely.

The Democratic governor, who has floated the possibility of a third term, seems increasingly less likely to seek another term.

While the Democratic governor has expressed interest in seeking a third term, Ms. Gregoire’s campaign had just $44,312 in the bank at the end of February, according to state Public Disclosure Commission filings.

Ms. Gregoire registered as a candidate for governor in 2012. The governor’s spokesman has also told The Associated Press that she has yet to decide whether to seek a third term.

The Washington state governor told Politico that she will likely make a decision by early May.

“I need to get through the legislative session and I don’t know if it’ll go to special session. That’s why I said I hope it’s May,” Ms. Gregoire said.
