Mississippi governor Haley Barbour is headed to New Hampshire.
The potential Republican president candidate is set to appear this week in the early primary state of New Hampshire as he continues preparing for a possible 2012 presidential run.
On Thursday, Mr. Barbour is scheduled to go to a restaurant in Manchester, New Hampshire, and a gun shop in Hooksett before attending a reception hosted by the Greater Manchester Federation of Republican Women.
The Republican governor’s trip to the presidential primary state is the latest indication that he will likely enter the 2012 presidential campaign. Mr. Barbour has said in the past that he will announce his decision following the end of the current legislative session in Mississippi. The legislature is scheduled to adjourn at the end of the month.
The governor’s latest trip was originally scheduled for late March, but Mr. Barbour rescheduled in order to assist state lawmakers in the crafting of a budget. State Democrats criticized Mr. Barbour’s frequent out-of-state trips at the time.
