Mississippi governor Haley Barbour slammed the Obama administration Saturday, telling supporters in Iowa that the administration thinks Americans are “too stupid.”
“This administration too often thinks we’re too stupid to take care of ourselves,” Mr. Barbour said.
The Mississippi Republican, and potential Republican presidential candidate, called for a 2012 presidential campaign “focused on policy,” and “focused on the policies of this administration which are bad for the economy, which are bad for job creation.”
Mr. Barbour, who canceled a trip to New Hampshire next Sunday after criticism from Mississippi lawmakers, spent Saturday in Iowa meeting with potential supporters and state Republicans. The Republican governor joined a number of conservatives at the annual Conservative Principles Conference hosted by Rep. Steve King.
Mr. Barbour returned to Mississippi on Saturday following the event.
