The State Column | Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has some support in the state of Michigan, according to the latest Public Policy Polling poll.

Romney gets the support of 26 percent of the GOP voters surveyed by Public Policy Polling in the state in which his father served as governor.

Trailing Mr. Romney is former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. Mr. Huckabee received 20 percent, while former House Speaker Newt Gingrich received 15 percent. Ms. Palin received 12 percent.

The poll is the latest to show support for the former Massachusetts governor. Mr. Romney has led a number of early polls, making him one of the front-runners. The former governor has yet to announce his candidacy, however, he continues to met with potential supporters and key Republican leaders.

The poll surveyed 360 Republican primary voters in Michigan March 18-20.
