Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney reportedly spent time with Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan during his latest visit to Capitol Hill.
Speaking Tuesday, Mr. Ryan said the meeting was focused on issues pertaining to Social Security reform and the nation’s growing debt crisis.
“I spent an hour with Romney on Thursday,” Mr. Ryan said. The Wisconsin Republican said the two discussed about entitlements reform and Republican proposals aimed to limiting costs associated with Social Security programs.
“I think he gets the situation, and I think he’s serious about fixing it if elected. I think Perry’s the same way. I know Herman’s the same way,” Mr. Ryan said Tuesday.
Mr. Romney’s meeting with Mr. Ryan, the ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee, comes as polls continue to show Mr. Romney as the Republican front-runner. Mr. Romney traveled to Capitol Hill late last week, meeting with top Republicans and attending a number of fundraisers in Washington.
