American Crossroads, the well-funded Republican group, it hitting Elizabeth Warren in a new ad for embracing the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Warren, a Democrat and Harvard professor, is challenging incumbent Republican Scott Brown for the seat in a bid widely seen as one of the key national races as Democrats fight to maintain control of the Senate.

In the new ad, the narrator says that instead of working to create jobs, she “has sided with extreme left protests,” referencing the Occupy Wall Street movement. The ad also blasted Warren for her previous comments that she has provided much of the “intellectual foundation” for the movement.

The new ads will run for two weeks and cost $1.8 million, The Hill reported.

Warren’s campaign wasted no time responding, emailing out a fundraising appeal telling supporters that the they “need your help to fight back.”

In addition to hitting Warren in the Massachusetts race, the new ad buy is focused on Democratic candidates in four other key Senate races: Montana, Missouri, Virginia and Nebraska. That includes an effort to link incumbent Democratic Sens. Claire McCaskill (Mo.), Jon Tester (Mont.) and former Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine (Va.) to Washington and President Obama.

Crossroads has also launched $2.4 million worth of advertising attacking Obama in Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, five other key swing states.
