New York real estate mogul Donald Trump on Monday called on President Obama to end the protests taking place in downtown Manhattan, saying Occupy Wall Street protesters are having a “great time.’
“I do think that government maybe is letting this go a little bit too far,” Mr. Trump said on Fox News Monday morning. “People are having a great time. They’re all going down, they’re having a great time.”
The New York real estate mogul, who announced earlier this year that he would not seek the Republican presidential nomination, said Monday that the protest movement did little to achieve its end goal of redistributing wealth.
Mr. Trump said that the demonstrators are “doing no service to what they’re representing.”
Mr. Trump said he would urged Occupy Wall Street protesters to move to Washington, D.C., and protest in front of the White House. The New York real estate mogul said he blames Mr. Obama for the current state of the economy, adding that the White House has done little to change the course of the U.S. economy.
“I think the protesters should be down at the White House protesting because he’s doing a terrible job on the economy,” Mr. Trump said. “He’s doing a terrible job on jobs. And he knows nothing about — this guy has never done a deal in his life, except for his house, which wasn’t a very appropriate deal.”
“This is class warfare, and this is probably the only way that he thinks he can get elected because he’s done a lousy job as president,” Mr. Trump added.
