According to the latest Public Policy Polling poll, the “Personhood Amendment” vote will come down to the wire on Tuesday. A PPP poll, released on Sunday, revealed that 45 percent of Mississippi voters support the “Personhood Amendment” and 44 percent of Mississippi voters oppose the “Personhood Amendment.” PPP interviewed 796 likely voters in the Mississippi election from November 4 to 6. The margin of error for the poll is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
Not surprisingly, the PPP poll suggests that there is a gender difference between those who support the “Personhood Amendment” and those who oppose it. According the PPP poll, 48 percent of men support the “Personhood Amendment” and 42 percent of men oppose Mississippi’s proposed amendment. On the other hand, 42 percent of women support the “Personhood Amendment” and 46 percent of women oppose it.

The “Personhood Amendment” or Initiative 26 would define personhood as “every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof.” If the “Personhood Amendment” passes it will make it unfeasible for a women to receive an abortion in the state of Mississippi. CNN reports that the passage of Mississippi’s “Personhood Amendment” would also make it difficult for a women to receive in vitro fertilization treatments and the morning-after pill.
