Poll shows Pennsylvania divided over Tom Corbett

A new poll out of Pennsylvania shows voters are divided over Republican governor Tom Corbett.

A new Quinnipiac University poll finds 39 percent of the state’s voters approve of the job Mr. Corbett is doing, while 37 percent disapprove. Twenty-four percent expressed no opinion.

The poll marks a sharp decrease in support for Mr. Corbett. In a February poll, only 11 percent said they disapproved of Mr. Corbett’s performance but 50 percent expressed no opinion.

The poll comes as the Pennsylvania Republican continues to meet with state lawmakers in an effort to close the state’s budget gap. The poll also comes one hundred days into his administration, a sign that many of the voters who voted for Mr. Corbett now either disapprove of the governor or have no opinion.

The telephone survey of 1,366 registered voters was taken in the week that ended Monday. The sampling error margin is plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.
