House Republicans continue to work to turn around the Obama economy by protecting American workers and job creators from increased regulation and taxes while rolling back reckless Washington spending. To date, House Republicans have passed 28 different pro-jobs bills (including H.R. 3630) that await action in the Senate.
Today, the House of Representatives voted to extend the payroll tax holiday. Because jobs are the number one priority for House Republicans, this legislation also includes measures to create jobs, by advancing the Keystone XL energy pipeline and delaying the EPA’s onerous Maximum Achievable Control Technology regulation for industrial boilers (aka Boiler MACT). The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2011 (H.R. 3630) passed on a bi-partisan vote of 234-193. Congressman Mike Pompeo (KS-04) released the following statement upon passage:
“This bill meets essential goals folks in Kansas have asked me to accomplish. The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act protects all workers from a tax hike next month, but it refuses to do that in a way that adds to our deficit. This bill also achieves needed job growth by advancing the Keystone XL pipeline and delaying the job-destroying boiler MACT regulations.
“Additionally, we have funded this bill with commonsense spending cuts, 90 percent of which enjoy bipartisan support. While I would go further, this is still a good step forward toward fiscal responsibility. The bill also reforms unemployment insurance to focus on helping Americans get back to work.
“All told, this solid bill prevents a looming tax hike on workers, stops job-destroying regulation, and creates thousands of new jobs for Americans. Best of all, it does all this without contributing to the national debt. I was proud to vote today in support of The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act,” said Pompeo.
