Would an endorsement from Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow help any of the Republican presidential candidates in the New Hampshire Primary and beyond? For the moment that question remains unanswered, as the conservative Christian quarterback indicated Monday that he has not endorsed any of the Republican candidates.
Mr. Tebow told The Associated Press Monday that several of the candidates have reached out to him for an endorsement. Mr. Tebow did not specify which candidates have asked him for an endorsement.
“I think you have to have so much trust in who you support, just from product endorsements to endorsing a candidate because if that person or company does something, it reflects on you,” said Mr. Tebow Monday.
Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry would be a likely endorsement for the Broncos quarterback, after he announced that he wanted to “be the Tim Tebow of the Iowa caucuses” during a presidential debate in Iowa.
Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who has dropped out of the race, compared herself to Mr. Tebow in a campaign ad.
If Mr. Tebow were to endorse Mr. Perry it may be too little too late for the Texas Republican as he is in fifth place in several recent national level polls.
