Ron Paul (R-Tx.), a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, is polling in 2nd place in the latest Des Moines Register poll of likely Republican caucusgoers in Iowa with 18 percent of the votes. According to a campaign press release, Mr. Paul has released a new TV ad, called “Big Dog,” to spread his message in the early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire.
Mr. Paul’s “Big Dog” TV ad focuses on the GOP candidate’s record on federal debt and spending reductions. The “Big Dog” TV ad will be broadcast in the states of Iowa and New Hampshire. Mr. Paul needs a strong finish in both the Iowa GOP caucuses and the New Hampshire Republican Presidential Primary.
“We need to do well in Iowa and New Hampshire, because it’s very important for perception,” Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton told POLITICO after the Michigan debate. “It’s also important because the voters in those states are very adept and astute at evaluating candidates, so we need to be in the top three in those states, no question about it,” Mr. Benton professed.
Although former House Speaker Newt Gingrich leads the Iowa poll with 25 percent of the votes, Mr. Paul’s support has also risen since the Des Moines Register’s October poll of likely Republican caucusgoers in Iowa. In October, Paul had 12 percent of the votes.
The “Big Dog” TV ad focuses on Mr. Paul’s “Plan to Restore America,” which calls for $1 trillion in budget cuts during the first year of a Paul presidency. Mr. Paul’s “Plan to Restore America” also calls for the elimination of the US Departments of Commerce, Education, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, and Interior.
“This ad is fun and energetic, yet the issues it focuses on are grave and weigh heavily on the minds of voters across America. Through this ad we continue to argue that Ron Paul is the only candidate with a serious economic plan to end out-of-control federal spending, reduce the debt, and curtail government activism that hampers economic growth,” Mr. Benton said in a campaign press release.
