Ron Paul super PAC sells Paul action figures

The State Column | Monday, January 23, 2012

Revolution PAC, a pro-Ron Paul super PAC, deserves creativity points for its latest fundraising idea. Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul’s loyal followers will have one more way to support their favorite politician. Revolution PAC announced Monday that it is selling collectible Paul action figures. “This is the only way that Ron Paul can be bought,” Revolution PAC chair Gary Franchi said in a press release.

Revolution PAC will offer both a “Commander-in-Chief” Paul and a “Super Hero” Paul for sale. “Barack Obama certainly doesn’t have a corner on the action figure market,” Mr. Franchi said. “Ron Paul proved he could go head to head with Obama in the Jones Soda bottle ballots during the 2008 campaign. I’m quite confident that he’ll be competitive in the collectible toy demographic as well,” Mr. Franchi added.

All proceeds from the purchase of the 12-inch tall action figures will help support Mr. Paul’s efforts to secure the Republican presidential nomination. Mr. Paul’s latest money bomb, the “South Carolina” money bomb, has also pulled in the necessary funds to support campaign activities and launch ads in the upcoming caucus states.

Although Mr. Paul was defeated by former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum in the South Carolina Republican primary, the Texas congressman is already looking past Florida to the caucus states of Nevada and Minnesota. Revolution PAC is supporting Mr. Paul through TV advertising, direct mail campaigns, web promotions, billboard and radio ads in key primary states.

The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza reports that pro-Paul super PAC, Endorse Liberty, will spend $1.4 million in radio and TV ad time in Florida for the Texas congressman.
