Sarah Palin: “2012 can’t come soon enough”

The State Column | Sunday, July 24, 2011

It seems former Alaska governor Sarah Palin just can’t wait for the 2012 Republican presidential primary to begin.

“2012 can’t come soon enough,” Ms. Palin wrote in a Facebook posting Friday.

Now the President is outraged because the GOP House leadership called his bluff and ended discussions with him because they deemed him an obstruction to any real solution to the debt crisis,” the former Alaska governor noted. “He has been deemed a lame duck president. And he is angry now because he is being treated as such.”

The comment is the latest indication Ms. Palin remains interested in seeking the 2012 nomination. The former Republican governor has yet to announce her plans for 2012, however, recent polls show her continuing to pull support in keys states, including Iowa and New Hampshire.

Ms. Palin, who has been a vocal critic of President Obama, slammed the administration Friday, criticizing the president’s approach to raising the nation’s $14.3 trillion debt ceiling.

“This is the same president who is pushing our country to the brink because of his reckless spending on things like the nearly trillion dollar “stimulus” boondoggle,” Ms. Palin noted.

The comment comes as President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner remain at odds on exactly how to pass a measure raising the nation’s debt ceiling. Mr. Boehner said late Sunday that House Republicans will pursue a plan to increase the debt limit by $1 trillion, with an additional vote expected later this year. Mr. Obama has vowed to veto the measure, saying it represents “kicking the can down the road.”
