Sarah Palin contradicts Bristol Palin; Denies having made a decision

The State Column | Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has reportedly made a decision regarding the 2012 Republican presidential campaign, according to her daughter Bristol Palin.

The former Republican governor said Tuesday that comments made by her daughter, Bristol Palin, are not accurate and that she has yet to make a decision.

“A lot goes into such a life-changing, relatively earth-shattering type of decision,” Ms. Palin said as she entered the Pella Opera House. “Still thinking about it.”

The former Republican governor played down comments made by her daughter, saying she had spoken with her since the appearance.

“I texted Bristol, I said, ‘Honey, what did you say this morning on some news program,’” Ms. Palin said. “She said, ‘Oh, mom, you’ve got to watch the interview. You know how they take everything out of context.’ I said, ‘You remember, Bristol, what we talk about on the fishing boat stays on the fishing boat.’ I don’t know what she said. She said I have to watch it myself.”

The Alaska Republican comment comes as the younger Palin said Monday that her mother had reached a decision, the latest indication that Ms. Palin is still considering entering the 2012 race.

“She definitely knows,” Bristol Palin said during an appearance on Fox News, adding that she would not reveal the decision and that it would remain internal to the family.

Ms. Palin made her first visit to Iowa this year, traveling to the state on Tuesday for the premier of a movie based on her political career, titled “The Undefeated.”

Ms. Palin has hinted at a bid for the Republican presidential nomination in recent months. The former Republican governor has captured national headlines with high-profile visits in New Hampshire and Iowa in the days following major announcements from key Republican presidential candidates, including Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
