Sarah Palin on emails: “Read ‘em”

The State Column | Friday, June 10, 2011

A spokesperson for former Alaska governor Sarah Palin said Friday that Ms. Palin is encouraging the media and individuals to search the trove of 25,000 emails and see a governor “hard at work.”

“The thousands upon thousands of emails released today show a very engaged Governor Sarah Palin being the CEO of her state,” Sarah PAC treasurer Tim Crawford, said in an email to the Daily Caller. “The emails detail a Governor hard at work. Everyone should read them.”

The email release comes as Ms. Palin continues to consider entering the 2012 Republican presidential campaign. The former Republican governor sparked speculation over a potential presidential bid, announcing a nationwide bus tour earlier this month that traveled to key political states, including Iowa and New Hampshire.

Many news organizations, including The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and msnbc.com, began scanning and posting the emails on their websites. The New York Times asked readers to join reporters in reviewing the documents.

Friday’s email release follows nearly three years of processing delays by the state of Alaska. Alaska officials said the sheer volume of data overwhelmed state workers. A number of the emails were requested during the 2008 general election when Ms. Palin was the Republican vice presidential candidate.
