Sarah Palin’s support plummets according to latest poll

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin’s support is plummeting, according to the latest poll.

Support for the former Republican governor has sunk to an all-time low of 36 percent, according a new Dittman Research poll based out of Alaska. Disapproval of Ms. Palin stands at 61 percent.

“There are a number of reasons why her popularity isn’t nearly what it once was,” said Matt Larkin, president of Dittman Research & Communications. “A fair number of Alaskans just have Sarah Palin fatigue.”

The same polling company notes Ms. Palin once had one of the highest poll ratings of any governor in the country. At her peak, Ms. Palin’s approval rating stood at 86 percent. The polling company notes Ms. Palin’s abrupt plummet in the polls may be the result of her resignation in 2009.

The poll comes as Ms. Palin continues to float the possibility of a presidential campaign. The former Republican governor regained the national spotlight over the weekend, speaking to a crowd of Tea Party supporters in Wisconsin, urging support for Wisconsin governor Scott Walker.

The poll also follows in the wake of an NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey earlier this month, which shows 53 percent of Americans have a negative or a very negative view of Ms. Palin.
