Utah U.S Senator Orrin Hatch, in a possible attempt to ward off potential Republican contenders, slammed President Obama’s health care law Thursday, saying the U.S. Senate should attempt to repeal the law.
Writing in the Salt Lake Tribune, Mr. Hatch noted “You’d be hard-pressed to find a more economically destructive piece of legislation.”
“The best way to fix this fundamentally broken law is to repeal it and replace it with common sense, step-by-step solutions that put states — not Washington — in charge to act as 50 laboratories of innovation,” Mr. Hatch noted.
The call for repeal comes as the Utah Republican faces the possibility of a potential Republican challenger in the state’s Republican primary election. A number of Tea Party members have pointed Mr. Hatch as a vulnerable Republican candidate in 2012.
