It seems Connecticut U.S. Senator received a scolding from U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Tuesday after showing up late.
Mr. Blumenthal, a freshman senator elected last November to replace U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd, showed up five minutes late to preside over the Senate, a task typically reserved for freshman senators of the majority party.
The Connecticut Democrat received hard words from Mr. Reid, who said “You can’t do this, I need you here.”
The Nevada Democrat was forced to preside over the chamber before Mr. Blumenthal arrived. After Mr. Blumenthal’s arrival, Mr. Reid spoke on the floor before departing.
The incident comes less than a month after Mr. Blumenthal entered office. The Connecticut Democrat squared off against Republican U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon in one of the nation’s most closely watched election races. Mr. Blumenthal defeated the Connecticut Republican by a wide margin.
