Oklahoma U.S. Senator Tom Coburn slammed the media, saying he is “disgusted” by the current media coverage of political rhetoric in the wake of the Arizona shooting.
The Republican U.S. Senator made the comment while appearing Meet the Press.
“I’ve pretty well been disgusted with all the media, right and left, after this episode,” Mr. Coburn said.
The comment comes as a number of Republicans and Democrats have criticized the tone and political rhetoric. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been front and center of the debate, issuing a critical statement of the media’s response late last week.
A number of politicians have publicly expressed views on the matter, noting a need to “tone down the rhetoric.”
