Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has always been a popular figure with active and retired members of the U.S. military. To celebrate his popularity with veterans and active military, Veterans for Ron Paul launched a money grenade Wednesday.
The Veterans for Ron Paul money grenade is a fundraiser for the “Ron Paul is the Choice of the Troops” march on the White House, which is scheduled for February 20th. The march, which will start at the Washington Monument and end at the White House, was organized by Nathan Cox and Adam Kokesh.
According to the organizer’s website, donations will be used to cover event expenses at first, but any additional money will help “provide transportation for veterans who otherwise might not be able to afford it.”
Mr. Paul’s money bombs, often organized and promoted by supporters, have helped the Texas congressman keep his Republican presidential campaign afloat. The former Air Force surgeon’s grassroots fundraising efforts are famous for pulling in a considerable amount of cash from smaller donations.
The Veterans for Ron Paul money grenade is not the first fundraiser that has attempted to benefit from Mr. Paul’s popularity with veterans and active military. In November, Mr. Paul’s supporters launched a “Veterans Day” money bomb to celebrate his service during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Paul’s popularity among men and women in uniform can be measured by the fact that the Texas congressman received more donations from active members of the military than all other Republican presidential candidates combined in the third quarter of 2011.
The Veterans for Ron Paul money grenade is the latest evidence that Mr. Paul has the fundraising power to run his campaign until the Republican convention in August.
