| Democrats in North Carolina for 2012 | ||||

| It must be nice to be a high-ranking party official. Democrats, who are in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of an assessment of the city’s interest in holding the 2012 Democratic convention, dined on steak and seafood on Wednesday. Charlotte officials tried their best this week to persuade party officials that the city has the size, hotel rooms, convention space and restaurants to stage the party’s grandest gathering. Last month, the Democratic Party made Charlotte a finalist for the convention along with Cleveland, Minneapolis and St. Louis. Colorado hosted the 2008 presidential convention when President Barack Obama secured the party’s nomination. A decision from Democratic Party leaders will likely come by the end of the year. As many as 35,000 delegates, plus media and other visitors, will descend on the winning city in September 2012. |
