Governor Susana Martinez signed the bill that allows judges to force convicted elected officials to pay back their salary and pension going back to the time they committed the crime.
Martinez signed the bill at metro court in Albuquerque Monday the site of one the biggest corruption cases in state history.
State senator Manny Aragon and others went to prison for receiving kick-backs for the courthouse construction project.
